Squirrel Buster Bird Feeder

Brome makes four kinds of squirrel buster bird feeder and many, many bird enthusiasts rate these products above all else.

Lets take a closer look at the four squirrel buster products.

Squirrel Buster Classic

This is based on a plastic tube with a surronding wire shround.  Access points in the wire shroud are aligned with the feeding ports so the birds can eat.  But, when a squirrel climbs onto the feeder its weight causes the wire shround to move down and therby blocking the feeding ports.  This means the squirrel cannot get to the food and moves elsewhere.

As soon as the squirrel leaves the feeder, a spring moves the wire shroud back to the correct placement for bird feeding.

Squirrel Buster Plus

This feeder not only blocks squirrels but also unwanted birds such as starlings and doves.

Squirrels are blocked by thge closing of the feeding ports when they step onto the feeder – so this feeder must be placing away from places where the squirrel could stand on a different platform and feed from the feeder.

Large birds, such as doves, are blocked by use a a variable length feeding perch.  Shorten the perch and the larger birds can’t stand and feed.

Squirrel Buster Mini

This works in the same way as the squirel buster classic bird feeder.  The weigh of the squirrel moves the wire shroud and blocks the feeding ports.

Squirrel Buster Finch

This feeder works as the classic and mini but with ports designed specifically for Thistle and Nyjer feed.

All of these bird feeders must be cleaned on a regular basis to make sure the birds remain healthy.
